I'm a largely self taught musician.. began on mandolin.. moved to drums and then along the way.. other instruments.. piano, bass, guitar... and well.. I sing and write as well...
Well it seemed like the time... and time is often the key.. that point where you just make something happen... things fell into place and after a year or so... a lifelong dream of making an all original album has come true!
I hope you'll dig what you find.. I hope you'll find something on one of these albums that resonates with you... I hope you share what you find and most of all.. I just hope you find something here that moves you, in some way....
The "Machine" is a bit of fun way of shedding light on what makes something like this possible.. the equipment, the techy stuff, the internet.. the wires the one's and zeros and such.... and then there's the two human parts, myself and Daniel... all combined to make something!
For anyone interested..
The first album "Picture" was recorded between my home studio in Winston-Salem, and Daniel's home studio in New Orleans & Winston...
During the recording, only one song was tracked together, in the same room.
The second album "Highways & Exits" was done between my home studio and Daniel's new home base in Asheville NC.
I use:
Vocal Mic: MAudio Solaris
Drums: My own custom made "Walker Custom Drums," Vic Firth sticks, Zildjian cymbals, Evans heads.
A combination of Audix, i5 mic on the snare, as well as another MAUDIO Solaris overhead... An Audix D6 on the kick. When close mic'ing toms, using Sennheiser E609's.
Acoustic Guitar: Taylor 214 with LR Baggs pickup ( the built-in pickup was not used for the recording of the album) and Elixir strings.
